The original Prince of Persia: Sands of Time title was released in 2003 by Ubisoft on Game Boy Advance, PlayStation 2, GameCube, XBOX, Microsoft Windows, and mobile. Jordan Mechner was the prime person behind it, who was the consultant, designer, and scenario writer of the game. It is a single-player, action-adventure platformer game.

The game was developed by Ubisoft Montreal and produced by Ubisoft with producer Yannis Mallat. The game follows an unnamed prince whose father sacks an ancient city at the instigation of a traitorous Vizier.

When will the game come out?

In 2020, Ubisoft announced Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake. So it has been two years now but gamers still cannot get their hands over the game. Since 2020, lots of issues lead to the frequent delay of the game. So far it's known that the release will be sometime near May next year when Ubisoft's Fiscal Year 2023 ends.

Although this doesn't mean the game is still far away. In August 2022, the PlayStation trophies of the Sands of time remake went live. This proves that the remake is very close to release.

Fans might get a new trailer or release date reveal anytime soon. Gamers thought it would have been revealed at the Ubisoft Forward event on September 10. But the event was mainly focused on Assassin's Creed franchise which indicates that the game may get a release date in the coming November or December.

Originally, the game was said to release on January 21, 2021. But the release date was postponed to March 18, 2021, and then it has been more than one year, still without any sign of release.

Which studio is behind the development of the game?

The 2003 game was originally developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. The same goes for the remake. Although the initial development team was Ubisoft India, later the development was handed over to Ubisoft Montreal.

Ubisoft India was predicted to have finished and released the game, but due to unexpected delays and the controversy surrounding the game's graphics, it was delayed many times. Another reason was the 2020 lockdown.

The controversy surrounding the Prince of Persia: Sands of time remake trailer

The game was initially announced in 2020 with an announcement trailer which was highly criticized by gamers for the footage in the trailer having graphics with a much lower standard than that of a 2020 game. The comment section of the trailer on every social media was filled with negative comments and reviews.

So, Ubisoft later handed over the development to their main studio, Ubisoft Montreal, and released a gameplay trailer in 2022.

On which platforms is the game coming?

The game is said to be released on PlayStation 4, XBOX One, and Microsoft Windows although it is being delayed until 2023. It seems that the game will be released on PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X/S as well.

For now, this is all we know regarding the game. Any other news, when declared, will be covered here in the future.
