God of War Ragnarok Disc Editions Plagued With Stock Issues on Amazon

God of War Ragnarok’s retail editions for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 are facing stock issues on Amazon, one of the largest online stores in North America. Sony confirmed the November 9 release date and listed the game for pre-orders as early as July. It is one of the most highly anticipated releases of 2022. The game launched this Wednesday and has lived up to critical acclaim. Currently, it is the highest-rated PlayStation exclusive ever.

Gamers can choose between multiple editions of God of War Ragnarok. The Launch edition packs just the complete game. It costs $60 on PS4 and $70 on PS5. The game is also available as part of a $200 Collector’s Edition and a $260 Jotnar’s Edition that comes with figurines, a steelbook display case, downloadable content., and a replica of Thor’s Mjolnir. Gamers paid their top dollar to collect unique God of War-themed items alongside the game ahead of its launch.

Amazon offers launch day delivery for God of War Ragnarok to Prime members. Numerous reports indicate that the e-commerce platform could not live up to its customers. On launch day, gamers received emails stating that the game would not arrive until a week later. The problem extends to users who had pre-ordered the game too. The e-commerce platform has delayed several Free Prime Delivery until November 21, and gamers are frustrated. According to some reports, the order might not get delivered until two weeks from the game’s official launch date.

In addition, Amazon and other sellers have sent out multiple incomplete shipments. Gamers who received deliveries of the Collector’s and Jotnar Editions on launch day found missing items. While some players have received two codes for the armor sets instead of the game, others reported receiving a PS4 edition of the same instead of the $70 PS5 version they paid for. The current-gen edition supports higher resolutions and framerates alongside DualSense-only features like adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. Gamers, however, can pay $10 more to enjoy the game to its fullest on a PS5 today.

Affected gamers have opened a separate Twitter account and a Reddit thread to report these issues to Sony and Santa Monica. The Collector’s Edition of God of War: Ragnarok did not come with the steelbook display case and the code for the game for one. According to another tweeter, Sony customer service is not approving replacement requests for the affected deliveries.

Demand for the retail editions of God of War: Ragnarok has exceeded Sony and Amazon’s estimates. The e-commerce platform might not have picked up enough stock to serve all orders. Thus, pre-orderers and post-launch buyers have to wait a week before supply normalizes and deliveries get fulfilled. Some have canceled their order, asking for a full refund. Others have reached out to the customer support of the respective sellers, only to be disappointed. Gamers can, however, pick up the game in person from stores like Walmart, GameStop, and Best Buy.

God of War Ragnarok is now available on PS4 and PS5.
