Till now, Nvidia has released a ton of graphics cards from their GT Series to RTX series, the latter of which is mainly used for gaming. These offerings are targeted at either 720p, 1080p gaming, or even 4K UHD.
Users got a huge performance boost with the launch of RTX 30-series graphics cards as compared to GeForce RTX 20 Series Cards. Leaks and rumors surrounding the RTX 40 Series cards suggest that the cards will offer a similar performance jump.
The RTX 40 Series is rumored to be based on the ADA Lovelace architecture. It will run on a 5 nm process node. Currently, the cards are in development and are rumored to be revealed soon this month. Here are a few pieces of information regarding the GeForce RTX 40 Series.
Everything about RTX 40 Series GPUs
Disclaimer: All pieces of information regarding the RTX 40 Series GPU are just leaks and rumors and must not be confused with the official confirmation from NVIDIA itself, which is yet to be announced.
What is the release date of the graphics cards?
Back in 2021, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series cards were rumored to be released in late 2022 and it seems legit following the pattern NVIDIA followed while releasing the RTX 30 Series after a 2 years gap from RTX 20 Series. So it shouldn't be a surprise for users if the cards are released in Q4 Sept 2022.
A trusted leaker @Greymon55, on Twitter, leaked that the RTX 40 Series will not be released anytime earlier than September 2022. He also mentioned that It may get delayed to Q1 2023, between January and March.
Another reliable leaker, @Kopite7kimi on Twitter claimed that the AD-102 GPU has entered the testing phase which, if true, is a sign that the card will be launched before 2023.
But due to the semiconductor shortage in 2020 and less production of GPUs, NVIDIA is left with a lot of RTX 30 Series GPUs now. Thus, they must sell all of them before the release of the next-gen cards to counter a huge loss in money.
NVIDIA will hold a showcase on 20th September 2022 at 8 AM PT/ 11 AM ET/ 4 PM BST where fans will hopefully get their doubts cleared.
What will be the cost of the NVIDIA RTX 40 Series
Since the cards are still not even officially revealed, it is hard to say the actual price of the RTX 40 Series cards. But following the price of the current-gen RTX 30 series, it can be guessed how much will the 40 Series GPUs cost.
GeForce RTX 3060 | $329 |
GeForce RTX 3060 Ti | $399 |
GeForce RTX 3070 | $499 |
GeForce RTX 3070 Ti | $599 |
GeForce RTX 3080 | $799 |
GeForce RTX 3080 Ti | $1199 |
GeForce RTX 3090 | $1499 |
GeForce RTX 3090 Ti | $1599 |
Despite this price listing, the cards were sold at double the price due to the semiconductor shortage of 2020. It was more disappointing that people were ready to buy those GPUs at double the actual price. So NVIDIA may think that even if they sell the next-gen cards at a higher price rate, people will still buy them.
There's a piece of good news as well. NVIDIA is increasing the production of the RTX 30 Series and thus reducing the price of the former.
Features of the RTX 40 Series Cards
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series will be featuring the ADA Lovelace GPU architecture. The new range will be based on TSMC's 5 nm process nodes down from 8 nm in the current range.
The RTX 40 Series card is considered to perform similarly to the current top-end RTX 3090, with an MSRP of $1499. A Twitter leaker @TtLexington claimed that the Nvidia RTX 40 Series will offer an overall 2X performance jump over the RTX 30 Series.
The Ampere architecture of the RTX 30 Series offers a clock speed of 1.7-1.9 GHz, whereas the Ada Lovelace architecture of the RTX 40 Series is rumored to support almost 2.2-2.5 GHz clock speed, which will be a decent upgrade for gamers.
The RTX 4070 is rumored to release with VRAM of 12GB GDDR6X, with a memory speed of 10 GBPS and Thermal Design Power (TDP) of 300W. It will support 7168 CUDA Cores and will be powered by the AD104-275 GPU.
The RTX 4080 is rumored to be released with VRAM of 16GB GDDR6X, with a memory speed of 21 GBPS and TDP of 420W. It will support 10,240 CUDA Cores and will be powered by AD130-300 GPU.
The RTX 4090 is rumored to be released with VRAM of 24GB GDDR6X, with a memory speed of 21 GBPS and TDP of 450W. It will have 121 streaming multiprocessors, support for 16,384 CUDA Cores, and will be powered by AD102-300 GPU.
